Wolves hunt their prey in the Rocky Mountains of North America, the Arctic tundra, the mountains, forests and rivers of Europe and the deserts and steppes of Central Asia. They feed on meat and fish and nutrient-rich offal, but also on vegetables, fruits, berries, roots and herbs through the stomach contents of the prey. Cereals are not included here. The individual ingredients of COLD RIVER have been put together in collaboration with veterinarians, in line with the wolf's natural diet and the findings on holistic dog nutrition. The dry food from Wolfsblut is therefore unique.

•   Sweet Potatoes: According to the American health authority CSPI, they are one of the most nutrient-rich vegetables due to their valuable dietary fibre and high beta-carotene and vitamin E content.

•   Chickpeas: Chickpeas are a legume and are rich in healthy nutrients. They contain high-quality vegetable proteins, iron, B vitamins and calcium.

•   Fennel: Fennel is rich in essential oils that are beneficial for digestion and intestines. It also contains vital substances such as potassium, vitamin A, folic acid, vitamin C and silicic acid.

•   Jerusalem artichoke: It contains a high proportion of inulin, which has a prebiotic effect and stimulates the growth of healthy bacterial strains in the intestine. A healthy intestinal flora has a positive effect on the immune system.

•   Ginseng: In the Asian region, it functions as a medicinal plant. The reason for this is the high nutrient content of the plant, which is rich in amino acids, vitamins, copper, iron and calcium.

•   Spirulina: The algae are rich in high-quality proteins and have a high content of vitamin B12 and iron.
